Leisure and Cultural Services Director
Full-Time • Chapleau Region
The Township of Chapleau is seeking an experienced Leisure and Cultural Services Director to be responsible for the supervision of its Recreation Center, Museum, Parks and Waterfront Facilities including the planning and delivery of Winter Carnival and Canada Day activities, the establishment of facility maintenance programs, community outreach, and to provide daily supervision to a unionized staff.
The Township of Chapleau is located in Northeastern Ontario and offers a full service recreational complex, arena, curling club, golf course, elementary and secondary schools in both the French and English language, Hospital, Medical Centre, three fulltime resident Doctors and a Dentist. Chapleau has a population of 2,000 residents and a $6 million annual budget.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
The incumbent will have knowledge and/or skills in the following areas:
management, organizational and leadership ability;
highly developed communication and computer skills;
public relations and marketing skills;
working knowledge of provincial legislation and policies that affect municipal recreation;
thorough knowledge of equipment, vehicles and materials used in the recreation area; and
technical skills in ice making, refrigeration and other mechanical maintenance for municipal recreation facilities.
The incumbent will possess the following qualifications:
A minimum of three years of relevant experience at both working and supervisory levels in recreation management and facility programming or acceptable equivalent; and
A recognized degree or certificate in recreation/parks planning, programming and /or administration.
The Township offers a competitive compensation package which includes membership in the OMERS pension plan and benefits. The salary range for this position is $60,345 to $67,919 per year.
